Multifunctional Materials Laboratory

Welcome

The Multifunctional Materials Laboratory at University of Washington is devoted to understand the mechanics and physics of multifunctional materials, using tightly combined theoretical, numerical, and experimental investigations.  In particular, we are interested in understanding the formation and evolution of microstructure in materials, clarifying their structure-property relationship, and identifying appropriate microstructures and processing conditions for superior functional properties.  The particular material systems we are focusing on now including ferroelectrics, ferromagnetic materials, electro-active polymers and composites, and multiferroics.
